Weak homogeneity in generalized function algebras

In this paper, weakly homogeneous generalized functions in the special Colombeau algebras are determined up to equality in the sense of generalized distributions. This yields characterizations that are formally similar to distribution theory. Further, we give several characterizations of equality in the sense of generalized distributions in these algebras.

On Countable Dense and n-homogeneity

We prove that a connected, countable dense homogeneous space is n-homogeneous for every n, and strongly 2-homogeneous provided it is locally connected. We also present an example of a connected and countable dense homogeneous space which is not strongly 2-homogeneous. This answers in the negative Problem 136 of Watson in the Open Problems in Topology Book.

Equivariant weak n-equivalences

The notion of n-type was introduced by J.H.C. Whitehead ([22, 23]) where its clear geometric meaning was presented. Following J.L. Hernandez and T. Porter ([12, 13]) we use the term weak n-equivalence for a map f : X → Y of path-connected spaces which induces isomorphisms πk(f) : πk(X)→ πk(Y ) on homotopy groups for k ≤ n. Certainly, weak n-equivalence of a map determines its n-connectedness bu...

Homogeneity of spacetime implies the free Schrödinger equation

The free Schrödinger equation is shown to be a consequence of spacetime homogeneity in the non-relativistic domain. This may help understand the origin of the wave equations in quantum theory.

Kaon Weak Interactions in Powers of 1/n C

I review a recent analytic method for computing matrix elements of electroweak operators based on the large-Nc expansion. In particular, I give a rather detailed description of the matching of the quark Lagrangian onto the meson chiral La-grangian governing K 0 − K 0 mixing. In the ∆S = 1 sector, I explain how to obtain an estimate for both ε ′ /ε and the ∆I = 1/2 rule. Finally, I give an examp...
